The Internal Filter, Values, is the first internal filter that we will look at.
Becoming aware of your values will strengthen your trust in yourself, and thus, immeasurably boost your self-esteem.
For your convenience, the AUDIO is 7.20 minutes - this inlcudes instruction on how to do the Activity below.
That is really is the core, the heart of who you are. They virtually dictate every thought you have and the subsequent action.
Everything you do is based on a value that drives that action; values are at the foundation of your judgments.
Your values, which make up your belief systems, shape your understanding of why things are possible for you or impossible for you.
They are the ‘why’ you do things, and they drive your actions.
Many of your values, you modeled as you grew up; you don’t even remember where they came from.
For example, many of the traits you have, you modeled from your parents.
Think of some of the expressions you use, the behavioral movements such as head movements and hand movements, the stereotyping you indulge in, these have all been modeled unless you made a conscious effort to change any of these.
Your beliefs based upon your values, are theories, not facts, but they are theory that you treat as though they were facts, and because of this, they tend to appear true.
Knowing what your values are will
• Help the you to make decisions
• Help you choose the right career
• Help you become more aware of who you are and why you behave the way you do
• Help you make desired changes
Remember, all change work begins with an awareness in that area.
Everything that means a lot to you, everything you would fight for, everything you would want to preserve stems from your value system.
Here are examples of where, your values come into play:
• Your inner self, that is, how you think about yourself
• How you see your life and live it
• Your spiritual beliefs
• Your cultural customs
• Your opinion of your social environment
• Your opinions generally
• How you work and relate with others
• The hierarchy of what is important to you in relation to family, health, career, relationships, etc.
Here is an exercise of for you to do (it’s a different set of values from the one you may have done previously.
In the table below are 42 values.
Identify 10 that are important to you; then prioritize them, 1 being the most important, 10 being the least important of this prioritized group.

Next
There seven major areas in your life.Using the hierarchy of values from above, identify how these values appear in importance in these seven major groups of your life, these are:
• Spiritual
• Mental
• Career
• Financial
• Family
• Social
• Physical
If there is a mismatch in the way you illustrated your values from the table above and in the way you are actually living them, then it’s time for you to see how it you could bring what you really want in alignment with what you are actually doing.
Guaranteed, when you achieve this, you will have such harmony in your life, you will truly be leading a fulfilling life.
Your values and living congruently and in alignment with them will fulfill your ultimate dreams.
These dreams will become your daily reality.
Next, we will look at a follow-on from your values, the internal filter, your belief system .
