This posting focuses on the generic attributes of Kinesthetic and Auditory Digital people.
These attributes include:
• Breathing from the bottom of their lungs, you can see their stomach go in and out
Kinesthetic people have the healthiest breathing pattern, clearing their lungs each time they breathe
• Often moving and talking veeeeery slooowly
It is very important to speak slowly if you do not want to lose a Kinesthetic person when you are presenting.
It is not because they are ‘slow’, not at all. They just like to process everything as they receive it.
• Responding to physical rewards, and touching
They are your ‘touchy feely people’ – beautiful.
In a positive sense they make you feel special. This can have a negative side to it as well as they stick up for the ‘victim’ as they perceive it and they can be quite off track and therefore, insult the other person whom they perceive to be doing the victimising.
• Standing closer to people when they converse as they have a smaller sense of personal space
• Memorising by doing or walking through something
• Being interested if it “feels right”
Most people today have Auditory Digital characteristics as they are a part of the skill set we all need to survive in today’s world.
It is however, not one of the Preferred Learning and Communication Preferences
Auditory Digital people
• Spend a fair amount of time talking to themselves, inwardly
• Want to know if something “makes sense”
• Can exhibit characteristics of the other major representational systems
• Are valuable as they think like a filing system
• Keep track of experiences
• Categorize experiences
• Plan and set directions
• Summarise effectively
• Make running commentary on raw data
• Draw conclusions
It is very interesting and empowering being aware of these different Preferred Learning and Communication Styles as it certainly assists in the Rapport building process.
Next time, we’ll do the Survey to ascertain, as to which is your Preferred Learning and Communication Style.
